OVFTOOL Deploy OVA o OVF from command line

I needed to deploy ova to esxi without vsphere web client or classic client.
For this operation i have used the OVFTOOL.
The tool is vmware tool and it is possible do download :

https://www.vmware.com/support/developer/ovf/

– Download file VMware-ovftool-4.1.0-2459827-lin.x86_64.bundle (64bit version)
– Install on redhat use this command sh vmware
sh VMware-ovftool-4.1.0-2459827-lin.x86_64.bundle
– Copy to esxi over ssh the /usr/lib/vmware-ovftool/
scp -r /usr/lib/vmware-ovftool/ root@*.*.*.*:/vmfs/volumes/<datastoreESXi>
– On esxi on the datastore into directory /vmware-ovftool/ change the used shell for ovftool command.

– For test the tool use this command:

/vmfs/volumes/<datastoreESXi>/vmware-ovftool/ovftool /vmfs/volumes/<datastoreEsxi>/<image>.ova

The file .ova need reside in the datastore esxi

In the output you see the ova info (es. use UEB .ova unitrend enterprise backup)

Now you are ready to deploy the ova appliance with this command:

/vmfs/volumes/datastore1/vmware–ovftool/ovftool –dm=thin –ds=datastore1 “–net:access333=VM Network” “http://air.primp-industries.com/SLES-VM/SLES-VM.ovf” “vi://root:vmware123@172.30.0.192”

Find yum repository

After change vcenter hostname and ip when i try to access a TSM Vmware Gui Web interface:

On the machine where the “Tivoli Data Protection for VMware” package is installed, open the Windows Services applet and stop the service:

Open the file vmcliConfiguration with notepad (find the file in my case on c:IBMtsmtdpvmwarewebserverusrserversveProfiletsmVmGUI) and change the name of old vcenter with the new vcenter

Now restart the service “Data Protection for Vmware web Server service” and retry to connect at web interface

Find SID session oracle from PID process OS

From TOP command linux i have found a proccess oracle this use many CPU. The PID proccess 6434

From Oracle connession i haved launched this select:

SQL> select sid from v$session, v$process
2 where paddr = addr
3 and spid = ‘6434’;

Last summer i have needed to configure 3 cluster PowerHa 7.1.3.3.

After configuration i found this command to generate a HTML report whit all information.

clmgr view report cluster file=/tmp/xxxx.html type=html company_name=”My Company”

On opt file i find:

VMMAXP=4

on definition of NODE on TSM server i found

MAXNUMMP=1

this is incorrect.
I need change the value for MAXNUMMP:

MAXNUMMP >= VMMAXP

Change Network adapter type on VM

After upgrade my vsphere infrastructure to 5.5 i have problem of disconnect network after reboot:

Now i have change on my vm windows the network adapter type from e1000 to vmxnet3

I have used this step :

– Save IP Address configuration
– Shutdown VM
– Copy Mac Address
– Remove E1000 network adapter
– Add vmxnet3 network adapter and set manual mac address
– Boot VM
– For windows 2008 and older set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
– Remove, if present, the old network adapter
– Configure ip address…

Non-Disruptive Upgrade why is disruptive upgrade MDS9124 o my god!

Last DAY i have needed upgrade my MDS9124 from 5.0.4(d) to 5.2.8(e).

When i started the upgrade i recaived this message:

disruptive upgrade

O my god!!!! is not possible.

I found the solution… i have resolved with reload the switch (this is siwtch is up from 5 years and the memory is 90% busy).

After reload the upgrade is Non-disruptive
